Not all of us have the luxury of being able to park our car in a garage when the temperatures reach negative numbers.

"A lot of problems with batteries; a lot of problems with, just recently, potholes. Once it thawed out a little bit the roads are starting to come up," says Ed Marek from Firestone Complete Auto repair.

Auto experts say any winter it's always a good idea to keep your tire pressure in check, your fluids filled and filters changed. They also say listen to your car. You can often hear or feel when something just isn't running right. Also, let the car warm up before driving off so the oil can thin out.

Businesses that come to the rescue when cars have weather-related issues report seeing close to a 50 percent increase in calls compared to this time last year.
