Ford, General Motors, Honda, Chrysler, even Audi and BMW are all showing plug-in and electric cars at the North American International Auto Show this year. The latest FOXe report features some of those vehicles, such as the 2014 Cadillac ELR, a gasoline electric plug-in that gets about 35 miles on a battery charge.

The ELR uses a power system similar to the Chevy Volt, with all of the luxury appeal Cadillac is known for.

"Here we've got a fully sporty vehicle that's a plug-in, takes advantage of the new technologies that we have and also looks great, and I'm sure it's fast," says auto show-goer George Baibak.

The ELR costs upwards of about $75,000 which is still less than the luxury electric Tesla Model S. Tesla sold nearly 20,000 Model S sedans in 2013.

Over at Ford the green technology is more budget friendly.

"Not only are there federal incentives but in some cases there's state incentives that bring the price down. So, this C-MAX Energi, for instance, is $32,500 but then you bring on incentives and it's less than 30 thousand dollars," says Mike TInskey of Ford Motor Company.

Ford is showing six hybrids or plug-in hybrids this year.

Even Smart cars are catering to those interested in electric vehicles. You can customize a mini electric drive for about $13,000 and they even sell e-bikes, a hybrid bicycle with an electric motor.

The city of Detroit says workers and retirees have approved pension cuts, a crucial step to emerging from the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. The city reported results Monday after two months of balloting ended July 11. A judge still must hold a trial to determine if Detroit's overall bankruptcy plan is fair and feasible, but support from retirees is vital.
