LISLE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed an Aldi grocery store at gunpoint Monday in west suburban Lisle.

A man walked into the store, at 5525 Route 53, about 2:35 p.m. and attempted to take cash from an open cash drawer, according to a news release from Lisle police.

When the cashier attempted to close the drawer, the man showed a silver or grey large-framed handgun and stole the money, police said. He then fled the store and was followed to a silver or grey four-door car, which he drove eastbound on Maple Avenue.

There were no injuries in the robbery and it was not immediately known how much money was stolen, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man, between the ages of 20 and 30, standing about 5-foot-8 and weighing about 160 pounds, police said. He was wearing a black, possibly Hurly brand, baseball hat, a black jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the armed robbery is asked to contact the Lisle Police Department at (630) 271-4200.
