2 shot to death in apparent South Chicago home invasion

Two men were shot to death after an apparent home invasion Sunday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood.

About 5 a.m., Chicago police were summoned to an apartment building in the 9100 block of South Commercial Avenue. The caller said a man had been shot in a neighboring apartment and turned up at the neighbor's door for help, according to police.The injured man collapsed in the neighbor's apartment and was dead by the time officers arrived. Police found a second man shot to death in the building.

Monday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the two as 35-year-old Salah Yousef Jaber Muhieddin and 18-year-old Harb Ibraihim Yousef Mohyddin.

Police are investigating the shooting as an apparent home invasion, according to Chicago Police Officer Michael Sullivan, a department spokesman.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.

The two were among four people shot and killed in violence across the city last weekend. Twelve others were wounded in reported shootings across Chicago.
