GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Gwinnett County firefighters honored a member of the FOX 5 family on Thursday for her heroic efforts.

Executive producer Amy Oates Ranel was presented with an award for helping save a family.

Last week, she ran to help after spotting a house on fire while heading to work in the early morning hours.

Another passerby, Drew Ridgely, also stopped and helped notify the family about the huge fire.

Firefighters say the two are true heroes.

Ridgely was unable to attend the ceremony, but will be honored at a later date.
