Surveillance: Molotov Cocktail-tossing Suspect

Posted: Updated:

Police need help searching for an attempted arsonist who almost set ablaze a residence with a Molotov cocktail.

According to police, they recovered surveillance that showed an unknown light-skinned male as he tried to toss an incendiary device five times into a window on the 2600 block of North Frankford Avenue in the Richmond section.

Police say that the incident happened on January 9th at 2:10 a.m. Surveillance shows the man light his device, throw it up to the window and run. Every time, the device bounces back and falls on the ground, surveillance shows. By the fifth time, it breaks, and the suspect runs off. Police say they later recovered remains of the device lying on the sidewalk.

In between the fourth and fifth toss, surveillance shows a car driving by that may have potentially seen the suspect, although the suspect does turns his back so that the driver doesn't see his face.

Here's the suspect description, according to police: Male, unknown race, wearing a hooded coat with a hooded sweatshirt underneath, black hat, sweatpants and white shoes.

If you see this suspect, police say do not approach him. Instead, contact 911 immediately.

To submit a tip via telephone, dial 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
