CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One man was slashed in the face and another male was run over by a vehicle early Sunday in what police believe was a gang-related fight in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side.

Officers responded to the fight, which involved at least two males, about 4:05 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Belmont Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

During the fight, a suspect backed a vehicle over another male, whose age was not immediately known, Zala said. He was taken in an unknown condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Also, a 29-year-old man was cut in the face with a knife during the skirmish, Zala said. He refused medical attention.

Police believe the fight was gang-related, Zala said.

No one was in custody Sunday afternoon as Area North detectives investigate.
