GLEN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) -- A strange site is washing up on the shores of Lake Michigan.

They're being called ice boulders or ice balls and they appear when chunks of ice break off large sheets on the lake.

Accuweather reports as the waves lap the shore, the ice is tumbled, smoothed and frozen into a round shape.

Video posted Wednesday by Glen Arbor Artisans shows the balls pounding the shores just east of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
