CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

In anticipation of the extreme cold and wind chills, the Adler Planetarium and Museum of Science and Industry will not open Monday, Jan. 6, officials announced Sunday.

The planetarium, located at 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive on the Museum Campus, will reopen Tuesday, according to a statement from planetarium officials.

The museum, located at 5700 S. Lake Shore Drive, will re-evaluate conditions Monday afternoon to determine their hours of operation on Tuesday, officials said.

According to forecasts from the National Weather Service, the wind chill Monday morning could be as low as -40 to -50 degrees.
