Tree crashes into bedroom of Lithonia home

LITHONIA, Ga. -

A Lithonia family is grateful to be alive after surviving what appears to be a miracle. An enormous tree fell right into the master bedroom but amazingly no one was hurt.

Six people were inside the house when the tree crashed down in the midst of howling winds on Thursday.

"It sounded like a very strong claps of thunder and the house shook almost like an earthquake," said Willie Walker.

Martha Walker said, "Just as I went upstairs to prepare myself for bed, my husband was lying in the bed and I went in the restroom and I heard this loud noise.  It sounded as if someone was having an accident."

The tree landed in the bedroom, causing extensive damage throughout -- and outside of -- the home.

"Our whole kitchen area was demolished," said Martha Walker. "We looked outside and the truck was split in half.

The six people inside the house were unscathed.

"I thank God I got up because had I not gotten up, I think I would have gotten some of that debris on me," said Martha Walker.
