CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man and a woman were killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Southwest Side late Saturday.

About 11:35 p.m., the two were in an SUV traveling north on California Avenue near West 37th Street when the driver lost control and hit a utility pole, police said. They were dead at the scene.

The man has been identified as Jorge Guerrero, 27, of the 3300 block of West 38th Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The woman was identified as Nancy Ruiz-Torrijos, 24, of Mexico City, according to the medical examiner's office.

Autopsies Sunday found both died of multiple injuries from the crash and their deaths were ruled accidents.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and it was not immediately known if alcohol or drugs were a factor, police said. The Major Accident Investigations Unit is investigating.
