CPD continues hunt for rapist in Belmont-Cragin

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Last week a 15-year-old girl was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted while on her way to school in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.

Chicago police are still working the area trying to find any information.

"We have officers on the street canvassing the area, talking to neighbors, talking to passersbys, people in their vehicles looking for any information that somebody might have from that morning," said Sgt. Timothy Dineen.

The hope is that as people were out and about preparing for the holidays that more eyes could have been on Long Avenue that morning.

"Maybe they did pass somebody on the street that was walking or running away, or a car that was speeding away," Dineen added.

Investigators are determined to find the person responsible.

"It affected the officers, this case, personally. You know, they take it, they look at it and they're doing everything they can to solve it," said Dineen.
