Body found in river is missing Sandy Springs man

ROSWELL, Ga. -

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirms the body found in the Chattahoochee River on Thursday is that of a Sandy Springs missing man.

They say the body is that of 71-year-old James Gary Morris of Sandy Springs. Roswell Police tell FOX 5 News that the body was found near a dock at the base of Overlook Park off of Morgan Falls Road.

A Mattie's Call was issued for Morris after his SUV was found at Don White Park on Dec. 4. Officials have been focused on the river since in their search for Morris. He has a history of depression and is on medication for congenital heart failure.

Officials say drowning is the official cause of death.
