ATLANTA, Ga. -

For some, quilting is simply an enjoyable hobby, but for one group of men and women in Lawrenceville, making quilts is part of a mission to show returning service members how much they are appreciated.

Once a month, women of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville meet for fellowship, hard work, measuring, cutting, pressing and stitching. The goal? To create beautiful comforting quilts for combat veterans

For these volunteers, very single stitch is their way of saying "thank you".

Quilts of valor is a national effort.

Over 94,000 quilts have been awarded over the last ten years.
