Third suspect identified in Ga. kidnapping

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Federal officials have identified a third suspect who's allegedly linked to the kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl in suburban Atlanta.

Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Atlanta field office, Ricky Maxwell, said Thursday that authorities are searching for 19-year-old Christopher Joseph Atkins, also known as "C.J."

Authorities say Atkins was indicted earlier this week on charges of conspiracy to kidnap and discharging a firearm during a violent crime.

Ayvani Perez was taken from her home in Ellenwood Sept. 17 and was later left at a relative's house in Conyers.

Police have arrested 29-year-old Wildrego Jackson and 40-year-old Juan Alberto Contreras-Rodriguez in connection with the case.

Authorities say armed men broken into the Perez family's home early in the morning and demanded drugs and jewelry from the girl's mother.
