Man critically hurt in Pilsen shooting

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was critically wounded in a shooting Sunday morning in the Pilsen neighborhood on the Lower West Side.

The 41-year-old man was shot in the back and left arm in the 1300 block of West 18th Place about 8:50 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, Estrada said.

The man has known gang ties in the area, and the shooting appeared to be gang-related, Estrada said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
