CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning South Shore residents about a series of armed robberies that have occurred over the past month.

Multiple robberies have been reported during the month of November between Yates Boulevard and South Shore Drive, between the 7200 and 7400 blocks, according to a community alert issued by Area Central detectives.

Although the dates and locations of individual incidents were not specified, police said there have been multiple robberies reported in the area in which one or more suspects have approached a victim, displayed a dark steel handgun and announced a robbery.

One of the suspects is described as a 5-foot-9 to 6-foot black man between 20 and 25 years old, weighing 150 to 190 pounds with cornrows or dreadlocks.

Anybody with information about the robberies is asked to contact detectives at (312) 747-8380.
