The Oakland County Sheriff's Department says one man is dead after the car he was driving went into the water at Terry Lake in Pontiac. The Oakland Co. Dive Team found the gray Pontiac Grand AM inside the lake after hours of searching.

Witnesses say they saw a vehicle drive into the lake at a high rate of speed around 2:15 p.m. Friday. The car was found around 5:30 p.m. and later pulled out of the waters by 8 p.m.

Savage reports officials ran the license plate of the vehicle and contacted the registered owner. The owner reportedly told officials the car was loaned to a friend, and authorities are working to find out exactly who was driving the car.

Investigators are initially ruling the incident as an accident, but are not ruling out the possibility of a crime. No other victims are said to have been involved at this time.
