GARY, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man found stabbed to death in the trunk of a burned-out car in Northwest Indiana has been identified as a missing West Town neighborhood man.

Emmanuel Dominguez, 30, of Chicago, who had been reported missing by his family, was discovered Nov. 4 in the trunk of a car that had been abandoned and set on fire before someone left his body there, police said.

An officer on patrol saw two legs sticking up from the trunk of the car, which was left in a weedy vacant lot in the 2700 block of Maryland Street, police said.

The Lake County (Ind.) Coroner's office said Dominguez died from multiple stab wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

He was last seen in the early morning hours of Nov. 1 after attending a rave party near Walnut Street and Damen Avenue, according to his cousin, Yvonne Martinez.

Dominguez, a bartender who worked at the Dana Hotel on the Near North Side, left the party with his girlfriend and got into a car with several people he did not know, Martinez said. He reportedly got out of the car at some point and was not seen again.

His phone was last traced to the intersection of Ashland Avenue and Division Street, according to Martinez.

Relatives noticed Dominguez, who lived part-time in Summit but often with his girlfriend, was missing four days after the Halloween party.

His car was found near the party, according to Summit Police Chief Les Peterson, who has been working with Chicago Police to help find Dominguez.
