The Southfield Fire Department says a man, 70, has died after a fire at his house.

Fire crews were called to the house on Gleneyrie Drive, near 10 Mile and Inkster roads, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Due to the difficult layout of the home, an estimated 30 firefighters were on the scene to help put out the fire. The Birmingham Fire Department and Star EMS was also called to assist, Batallion Chief Barry White of the Southfield Fire Department tells Fox 2. White says the house was rebuilt on an old structure and had three or four roofs on it.

After being rescued, the man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
