Ventra card readers still malfunctioning on CTA buses

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

FOX 32 News has some new evidence that shows just how frustrating those new Ventra payment cards can be for Chicago Transit Authority riders, when they don't work properly.

Director Mike DeCapua captured video as he was coming to work on the CTA Tuesday morning, of a malfunctioning Ventra machine.

When he swiped the card in one instance, it responded with a message that said "stop." He swiped his card another time, and the screen read "processing" for more than ten minutes.

In many cases, CTA bus drivers end up giving riders a pass. Ventra officials have promised to fix the system. But over time, this is going to cost the CTA a lot of money.
