Gunman sought in fatal Chamblee recording studio shooting

Posted: Updated:
CHAMBLEE, Ga. -

Authorities hope surveillance footage will lead them to the person who shot and killed a man at a recording studio in Chamblee.

Police said recording engineer and musician Dexter Mizelle let the killer into his studio at Visions Studios in Chamblee on Nov. 9. A fight then broke out and Mizelle was fatally wounded.

"You'll see the offender pull away and then you'll see a handgun in hand, but there's no muzzle flash so we suspect that the victim was shot while he was fighting on the ground," said Sgt. Ernesto Ford of the Chamblee Police Department.

Ford doesn't think robbery was the motive as several thousand dollars in cash, marijuana, crack cocaine, meth and weapons were found inside Mizelle's studio.

Ford believes that Mizelle knew his killer.

The suspect wore an Ohio State hoodie and a Cincinnati cap.

Police said Mizelle rented out two studios among several dozen housed in a warehouse. Studio management did not comment to FOX 5.

Chamblee police hope a $2,000 CrimeStoppers reward will lead them to the killer. Anyone with information is urged to call 404-577-TIPS(8477).
