CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

While Chicagoans may differ on a number of issues, one problem we all unite against is a big one: Rats.

If you live in a neighborhood where these pests run rampant, you know how serious this issue can be. Theses rodents - some bigger than squirrels - scurry through alleys, rustle through garbage cans and dumpsters searching for food all over the city.

Some brave residents like David Feinberg, have taken to trapping the rats, to show evidence of how large and invasive rats can be. From lower Michigan Avenue to the West Side to 26th and California, it's a city-wide, disgusting problem.

"It's a huge problem. We have been calling and calling for such a long time. They come and they bait, but that's just trying to fix the symptoms," Feinberg said. "They are not trying to fix what really needs to be fixed, which is cleaning up what they are trying to eat, those rats."

Feinberg even tried shooting them with his BB gun, but they're too big – the BBs just bounce off. He said the situation is frustrating because he can't solve this rat problem, and isn't safe for his kids to play outside their own home.

Alderman Bob Fioretti said the rats are affecting the 2nd Ward as well. He witnessed what seemed to be a colony of rats run rampant on the West Side.

But the question is, how can the city eradicate these rats for Chicago streets?
