WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

State child welfare officials are investigating allegations of neglect in connection with the death of an infant in north suburban Waukegan Friday.

Two-month-old Kionne Campbell was found unresponsive on a bed in his home in the 500 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Waukegan, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

DCFS is investigating Kionne's mother and father for allegations of neglect, spokeswoman Karen Hawkins said. The agency has not had any prior reports about the family.

The child's two siblings were placed in the care of relatives under a DCFS monitored safety plan, Hawkins said.

Waukegan police, who are also investigating the death, could not provide additional details Sunday night.
