ATLANTA -

It is a changing of the guards at Chick-Fil-A as Truett Cathy announced on Thursday that his son will take over his role with the company.

In a statement released to FOX 5 News, the founder of Chick-Fil-A expressed his confidence in his son taking the reigns as Chairman, President and CEO:

"Dan is ready to take Chick-fil-A into its next chapter of growth and stewardship. He has been a highly effective leader in the business and shares my commitment of being a faithful steward to all that has been entrusted to us."

Truett Cathy will retain the title of Founder and Chairman Emeritus for the family-owned and privately-held restaurant company.

He stated he was "grateful for my children and grandchildren who have a love for the family business."

The 92-year-old is not out of the industry entirely with his Fayetteville-based Luau restaurant set to open in December.
