BEACH PARK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man's body was discovered near a north suburban bike path, where he apparently fell off his bicycle and suffered fatal injuries on Sunday.

Two people walking the Robert McClory bike path near Wadsworth Road in Beach Park about 4 p.m. found the body of Hector M. Escobar lying near his bicycle, according to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff's office.

Escobar, 39, of Zion, apparently lost control of his bicycle, fell off and suffered spinal injuries that led to his death, according to the statement.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in his death, according to police.

Anyone with information about Escobar or his whereabouts prior to his death is asked to contact Det. Bennett or Det. Kaiser at (847) 377-4250.
