CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Among those at the airport when the shooting happened, was a man trying to fly to O'Hare for his sister's surprise 50th birthday party in Crystal Lake.

Kirk Stinson, from Los Angeles, remains stuck at the airport Friday night with hundreds of others. He sent FOX 32 video from terminal 3, where earlier he says he was about 35 feet from where the shooting started.

He said it was chaotic and he feared for his life.

"We were just finding anything we could to hide behind," Kirk told FOX 32 News over the phone. "And you couldn't know where the bullets for coming from. I grabbed a group of people and tried to shove them in one of those terminal areas where you go out to the plane but that was, we didn't know where they were coming from so we got stuck in there. The rest of us hid behind a pillar.

Kent Stinson flew in to O'Hare from Colorado Springs and was waiting for his brother when he heard about the shooting.

"I'm thankful he is alive," Kent says. "When he called me I was frantic too, I'm still kind of shaken but, thank God that he's alive."
