Police investigating business burglaries on Near North Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning about three recent burglaries at businesses on the Near North Side.

In each case, the suspect pried open the front door, then took bags of money or cash from the register, Area Central detectives said in an alert.

The first burglary happened Oct. 13 about 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of West North Avenue, the alert said.

Another happened in the 400 block of West North Avenue, sometime between 10 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 16, the alert said.

A third burglary happened in the 200 block of West Evergreen Avenue between 7 p.m. Oct. and 6:45 a.m. Oct 18, the alert said.

Police did not have a description of the possible suspect, the alert said.

Authorities are warning businesses to lock their doors and windows, and activate alarms and video surveillance systems.
