1 hospitalized after Michigan Ave high-rise fire

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One person was hospitalized after a fire in a residential high-rise building in the Streeterville neighborhood on the Near North Side.

The blaze was on the 15th floor of the 33-story building at Michigan Terrace, 535 N. Michigan Ave., according to police and the fire department.

One man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition to be treated for smoke inhalation, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Fire Media Affairs said the fire was out by 10:50 a.m.

Southbound lanes of Michigan Avenue were shut down between Ohio and Ontario, and traffic was being diverted onto Wacker Drive, police said.
