Wire problems cause Metra Electric delays, cancellations

HAZEL CREST, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Wire problems halted a Metra Electric District train and delayed or canceled several others during the rush hour commute Wednesday morning.

Metra Electric train No. 102, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 6:35 a.m., stopped near Hazel Crest because of wire problems and will not continue to Chicago, according to a Metra alert.

Train No. 508, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:53 a.m., is operating 30 to 35 minutes behind schedule, Metra said.

Train No. 313, scheduled to arrive at South Chicago/93rd Street at 8:57 a.m., is operating 20-25 minutes late, Metra said.

Train No. 111, scheduled to arrive in University Park at 8:50 a.m., is operating 25-30 minutes behind schedule, Metra said.

Train No. 758, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:26 a.m., is operating 18-23 minutes behind schedule, Metra said.

Train No. 738, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:29 a.m., is operating 14-19 minutes behind schedule, Metra said.

Train No. 508, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:53 a.m., will be departing Blue Island late and will be delayed between 10-20 minutes, Metra said.

Trains No. 710 and 712 will operate as a combination train and is scheduled to depart University Park at 8:01 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 9:06 a.m., Metra said.

Several earlier trains were cancelled or experienced delays.

It was not immediately clear how long the delays would last.
