CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Today is Columbus Day! The city of Chicago held the 61st annual Columbus Day Parade, which was "The Year of Italian Culture in the United States."

The first floats rolled out at noon on Monday, near Columbus and Balbo, and ran through Grant Park.

This year's parade was dedicated to former Chicago police officer and actor Dennis Farina, who died earlier this year.

Monday is also a federal holiday. That means federal, county and some municipal offices will be closed.

Chicago Public Schools and many parochial and private schools are also off Columbus Day. There will be no regular mail delivery.
