Alerts issued after several South Side burglaries

At least a dozen reported South Side burglaries during the last month have prompted Chicago Police to issue several community alerts.

The burglaries have been reported mostly during daytime hours and are all within the Hyde Park, Grand Boulevard and Washington Park communities, according to police.

In each reported case, an unknown number of suspects forced their way into a home, either through a door or window, and stole items from inside, police said.

The burglaries were reported on:

- Sept. 24 in the 0-100 block of East Garfield Boulevard overnight.

- Sept. 24 in the 4000 block of South Federal Street during the afternoon.

- Sept. 25 in the 5700 block of South Indiana Avenue during the day.

- Sept 26. in the 5600 block of South Wabash Avenue during the evening.

- Sept. 30 in the 4000 block of South Federal Street during the day.

- Oct. 1 in the 4000 block of South Federal Street during the day.

- Oct. 6 in the 5800 block of South Michigan Avenue during the day.

- Oct. 6 in the 5500 block of South Wabash Avenue during the day.

- Oct. 7 in the 5700 block of South Indiana Avenue during the day.

- Oct. 7 in the 5400 block of South Woodlawn Avenue during the day.

- Oct. 8 in the 5300 block of South Woodlawn Avenue during the day.

- Oct. 10 in the 5800 block of South Michigan Avenue during the day.
