Oak Park church goes up in flames

Firefighters from several city departments battled a fire at an Oak Park Church Friday night.

Beverly Hills, Berkley and Southfield departments, possibly among others, assisted Oak Park at First Baptist Church on Coolidge. The started burning at approximately 7 p.m. Friday evening and was still burning nearly four hours later, with firefighters still on scene.

The building has sustained heavy smoke and fire damage.  

No word at this time what the cause of the fire. No fatalities have been reported but Fox 2 has learned one person was transported to the hospital.

According to the church's website, it was founded in 1950.
