Kennesaw State breaks ground on library expansion

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) - Kennesaw State University has broken ground on a $4.4 million renovation and expansion of its Horace W. Sturgis Library.

University officials say the project will expand space to enhance student learning, engagement and academic success.

The project will add 1,600 square feet to the current 104,000-square-foot facility. The expansion is expected to be completed in spring of 2015.

Kennesaw State President Daniel S. Papp says the university is grateful for the support from the Board of Regents and the General Assembly, which provided critical funding for the project.

The current library opened in 1981 and houses 94,000 volumes.
