WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A north suburban man arrested during a drug raid at his home was later identified as the suspect who was using toys to pose as a police officer and rob people.

Police executing a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Ash Street in Waukegan found packaged crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana, as well as equipment to create an indoor cannabis-growing operation was also seized, a statement from Waukegan police said.

They also found toy handguns, holsters, walkie-talkies, handcuffs, badges and a "POLICE" shirt on Tuesday, according to the statement.

Danny Blalock, who lived at the house, was taken into custody and admitted dealing drugs and committing several robberies in July and August while posing as an officer, according to police.

Blalock used the toys to impersonate an officer, approaching victims on foot, shining a flashlight in their eyes and demanding purses, wallets and cell phones, police said. The most he got in any of the robberies was about $30, police said.

In one robbery, Blalock allegedly told the victim he was trying to determine citizenship, police said. In another, a victim became suspicious and Blalock fled in a Jeep Cherokee which he later sold to avoid being identified.

No one was injured in any of the robberies, police said.

He also admitted posing as a police officer to rob a person in North Chicago, and that information was forwarded to police there.

Blalock is charged with one count of aggravated robbery, two counts of robbery, three counts of false impersonation of an officer, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession with intent to deliver, and two counts of possession of within 1,000 feet of a school, police said.
