Ex-Ga. firefighter sentenced on child porn charges

Posted: Updated:

UNION CITY, Ga. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a former suburban Atlanta firefighter has been sentenced to five years in prison for receiving child pornography.

Investigators say 31-year-old Justin Corley, a former Union City firefighter, used a wireless internet connection at the Union City Fire Department to distribute child porn.

Officials say Corley, of Newnan, became the target of an investigation after Homeland Security officials launched a peer-to-peer file sharing operation to identify those in the Atlanta area suspected of receiving and distributing child pornography.

Federal agents executed a search warrant at Corley's home in February 2012 and seized his laptop. Officials found more than 9,000 photos and videos of child porn on his computer.

Corley is ordered to serve 15 years of supervised release after his sentence and must also pay $1,000 in restitution.
