Ex-Ga. teacher sentenced on child porn charges

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an ex-middle school teacher has been sentenced to five years in prison for receiving child pornography.

Authorities say 30-year-old William Villemez, who taught drama and dance at Pace Academy in Atlanta spent more than $750 on DVDs containing child pornography between July 2008 and March 2011.

Investigators say Villemez ordered the DVDs from a foreign company and had them shipped to his home in Smyrna. Police executed a search warrant of his home in October 2012 and found that Villemez had also downloaded child pornography to his home computer.

Officials say Villemez downloaded and mail-ordered the child pornography while he was working as a teacher.

Villemez is also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release after his sentence.
