CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A camcorder battery caused a small fire on a plane that landed safely at O'Hare Airport Thursday night.

The American Airlines flight from Chicago to St. Louis returned to O'Hare airport about 8 p.m. because of "light smoke conditions," according to Fire Media Affairs.

Responding firefighters found a camcorder battery that shorted in an overhead compartment and firefighters extinguished the fire, the fire department said.

No injuries were reported.
