YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Authorities say they seized 88 sick and malnourished cats from a home in a suspected hoarding case.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley says the animals were rescued Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from a home in Washtenaw County's Ypsilanti Township. The group got several tips about the home and found the cats in horrible conditions.

The group says the home had feces, flies and garbage inside. Cats were found throughout the house.

The Humane Society says officials are assessing each cat and some have health problems related to the home's condition. A Friday, Saturday and Sunday adoption event is planned to help make room for the cats.

The home is a rental property that was inhabited by a woman in her mid-40s and her father, who is in his 80s,  Mike Radzik, director of community standards for Ypsilanti Township told mlive.com.

No charges have been brought, but court action is expected.
