Antioch man convicted of DUI while driving kids

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An Antioch man was found guilty Wednesday of driving drunk with small children in the vehicle -- his fifth DUI conviction.

A McHenry County jury deliberated for 10 minutes before finding Dale Anderson, 51, guilty of aggravated DUI, the McHenry County State's Attorney's office said in a release.

Sheriff's deputies pulled him over for running a stop sign near Ringwood and Johnsburg roads, and found that he "smelled strongly of alcohol," according to the state's attorney's office.

Anderson failed field sobriety tests and admitted to drinking "four or five beers," the state's attorney's office said. Two children, ages 8 and 10, were in the vehicle with him.

This is Anderson's fifth conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the state's attorney's office.

He faces between four and fifteen years in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 17, the state's attorney's office said. Anderson is not eligible for probation.
