DETROIT (AP) -

A Macomb County man who authorities say was driving drunk when he crashed into a medical transport van, killing the driver and two kidney dialysis patients, has been sentenced to 23 to 50 years in prison.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports 31-year-old Jeremy Yancey of Chesterfield Township was sentenced last week in Wayne County Circuit Court.

Yancey in August pleaded no contest to three counts each of second-degree murder, drunken driving causing death and reckless driving causing death. A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes.

Authorities say police tried to stop Yancey's speeding van April 12. Officers ended the chase, but the van kept speeding until the crash in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.
