    Authorities say searchers have found the body of a 10-year-old western Michigan boy who disappeared after going fishing, triggering an extensive search by the FBI, state and local police.

Authorities on Monday expanded efforts to search for a 10-year-old west Michigan boy who disappeared over the weekend after leaving home to go fishing, police said.

Devon Morrison, of Belding, was last seen Saturday as he headed for the Flat River with a fishing pole, police said. Authorities searched the river Sunday with boats and helicopters, and planned to use more technology and divers on Monday.

"By nature I am optimistic," Belding police Chief Dale Nelson told reporters Monday morning.

Nelson earlier said he considered the disappearance suspicious and was treating it as possible crime. The FBI and state police are aiding the search about 25 miles northeast of Grand Rapids. Devon is a fifth-grader at Woodview Elementary School.

Police said Devon would regularly fish alone at the river, which is about 700 feet from his home, The Daily News of Greenville reported. No one was in custody Monday, police said, and officials plan to again interview family members and others in the area.

Shoes were found in the river about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, and Nelson says family members are "pretty sure" they belong to Devon. On Sunday, volunteers joined officials in the search. Nelson said Monday there wasn't a need for volunteers.

Police also put up crime scene tape at the boy's home Sunday, Nelson said. He said a search was conducted and investigators' work at the home was primarily to give search dogs a fresh scent. The tape later was seen being taken down at the home.
