On Wednesday's Chat Room, Sun-Times Splash Editor Susanna Negovan, FOX entertainment reporter Bill Zwecker and Good Day Chicago anchor Anna Davlantes honored those who lost their lives in the of the 9/11 attacks on its 12th anniversary.

They also discussed Kmart's layaway ads for holiday shopping, which they started airing in September – 106 days before Christmas – with FOX 32's Joanie Lum. There was a huge negative reaction on social media, although people do understand that it's smart to pay for big ticket items over time.

The Chat Room applauds this year's Miss Kansas, Theresa Marie Vail. The 22-year-old Miss America contestant joined the National Guard when she was 17 and has since been promoted to sergeant. She hopes to set a good example for any young women who might be watching the competition. The group talked about how Vail is helping to redefine the ideal of modern American women.
