Two Elgin men charged after drugs found in home

Two northwest suburban men were arrested Tuesday morning when police found drugs and a marijuana growing operation in their home.

Kane County Sheriff's police executed a search warrant about 6:30 a.m. in the 800 block of South Street in Elgin, and seized about 30 grams of cocaine, illegal prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

Police also found a small marijuana growing operation in the house, the statement said.

Alfonso M. Gallardo, 22, of Elgin was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of prescription drugs, production or possession of less than five cannabis plants and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Eric C. Nelson, 27, of Elgin was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of cocaine, police said.

Both men, who lived at the home, were being held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center, police said.
