Send letters to Charlotte, continuing to recover from raccoon attack

Posted: Updated:

Charlotte Ponce was attacked by a pet raccoon as a baby. In August 2012, she made her first trip to metro Detroit to undergo the first of what will be dozens of surgeries to rebuild her face.

Now, a year later, her recovery is remarkable.

Charlotte's adoptive parents say she is doing well at her new school and she continues to work with a child trauma psychologist. Next spring doctors will begin work on rebuilding her right ear.

In the meantime, Charlotte's mom says any encouragement has a tremendous impact on her recovery, and encourages anyone thinking of Charlotte to send her a nice note in the mail.
