CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Can one of the most famous cats in the world help out a local shelter? The Tree House Humane Society hopes megastar "Grumpy Cat" can do just that.

Millions of people have come to know a few very special cats who have become internet sensations--like Keyboard Cat, for example.

Then, there are two popular specials needs cats that have captured the attention of cat lovers around the world: Lil Bub and Grumpy Cat. Lil Bub's owners say he suffers from dwarfism and is a polydactyl cat, meaning she has extra toes. The owners of Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, say the feline likely also has dwarfism.

The Tree House Humane Society in Chicago is a no-kill cat shelter that also specializes in caring for cats with special needs. They are preparing to open up a new state-of-the-art shelter next summer.

Jenny Schlueter, the director of development for the shelter went to a cat internet video festival where she met cat celebrities like Grumpy Cat and Keyboard cat. There, she got an idea and approached the cats and their owners with a proposal.

"We're building this new shelter, we want to help more cats like this and it would be really wonderful if you would join with us to kind of promote this campaign and to help more cats like Grumpy Cat and Lil' Bub and they both agreed that they want to be involved," Schlueter says.

So now the details are in the works to create public service announcement to help cats just like Grumpy and Lil Bub.

"We're really, really excited to join forces with them to help more cats," she adds.
