3 teens attack retired DPD officer, questioning about home invasions

Posted: Updated:

It all began when one homeowner wanted to take justice into his own hands. He got his friend, a retired Detroit police officer, to help look for the guys who invaded and stole from his house.

Then the pair got a tip from a neighbor, who pointed out one of the guys who was believed to have broken into the home. They tracked him down, but the teen took off down the streets.

The pair was relentless though, and stayed on him. That's when the suspect went back into a home, grabbed a gun, and turned it on the retired officer.

The officer began struggling with the teen, trying to disarm him. The officer eventually succeeded, despite the two other suspects joining in on the fight.  Finally, the two were able to hold the three suspects until police arrived.

Two suspects were taken to the hospital for some injuries gotten in the fight. The other two also have injuries from the fight.

When those officers searched the house, they found several items that appear to have been stolen in home invasions.
