The DSO Jazz Orchestra performs at free Jazz Festival

The Detroit Jazz Festival will celebrate its 34th year this weekend. It will take over several city blocks from Hart Plaza all the way to Campus Martius beginning on Friday and running though Monday, September 2nd. The free event will feature 5 stages and more than 100 acts over a four day period. It also offers educational activities, fireworks and opportunities to meet the various artists attending.

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Jazz Quarter and the DSO's Civic Jazz Orchestra conductor paid a visit to the Fox 2 studios on Friday to talk about the big event. They are set to perform on Saturday, August 31st on the Mack Avenue Waterfront stage from noon until 12:45pm. They will perform Day Dream by Billy Strayhorn and Black and Tan Fantasy by Duke Ellington and Bubber Miley.
