City to spray insecticide for mosquitoes

The Chicago Department of Public Health plans to spray insecticide to kill adult mosquitoes and curb the spread of West Nile Virus in several North and Southwest Side neighborhoods, authorities announced Wednesday.

Edgewater, Lincoln Square, West Ridge, Clearing, Chicago Lawn and West Lawn will all be sprayed for mosquitoes between dusk Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday, according to a release from the department of public health.

Authorities will spray approximately 1.5 ounces of pesticide per acre.
