DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -

AAA Michigan says gasoline prices have increased about 7 cents during the past week to a statewide average of about $3.62 per gallon.

The auto club says Monday the average is about 32 cents per gallon less than this time last year.

The increase comes ahead of the Labor Day weekend, when AAA Michigan says about 1.2 million people in the state are expected to travel. Most will go by personal vehicle.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Detroit area, where it's about $3.60 a gallon. The highest average is in the Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids areas at about $3.63 a gallon.

Dearborn-based AAA Michigan surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily.
